Although Mr. Senthilkumar's comment was expunged the previous day, his apology was offered a day later.

Participating in a discussion on two bills related to Jammu and Kashmir, he asserted that the BJP can only secure victories in the northern states and not in south India.

His comments fueled the ongoing 'north-south' debate, intensifying after the BJP's successes in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, while the Congress triumphed in Telangana.

In response, BJP leaders questioned whether Congress leader Rahul Gandhi endorsed Mr. Senthilkumar's remarks.

Today, Union Minister Anurag Thakur alleged a "conspiracy" by the Congress and its allies from the Opposition against north India and Hindus. The recent electoral setback for the Congress, he added, did not diminish their arrogance.
